BSM has now expanded their selection to 23 existing DVD-Audio titles in just 5 days. It will take a while longer for new title announcements but we're much further ahead that we were a month ago.

DVD-A fans should take alook and consider ordering something to show our continued support for the format.

BSM expands DVD-A selections today with another Mark Knopfler title as well as four Warner releases by R.E.M., bringing the total to 12 DVD-Audio titles.

Each of these is also a CD/DVD-A package....

DVD Album? Then what is an MVI?

Yesterday (5/01) Rush.com sent out an email in support of the album release that included this reference to the special edition:

"In addition to SNAKES & ARROWS, RUSH is also releasing a MVI on June 5. MVI is a cutting-edge format that features 5.1 surround sound, interactive content and higher storage capacity. The SNAKES & ARROWS MVI contains more than 40 minutes of never-before seen footage of Geddy, Alex and Neil in the studio, and offers fans a first look at some of rock music's greatest innovators."

>>> In the Amazon.com webpage for RUSH - Snakes & Arrows is this note:

What Is MVI? With a higher storage capacity than a standard CD, the Music Video Interactive Disc (MVI) contains new interactive features including, superior sound quality, a wide range of video features, and interactive digital content. MVI discs play in all standard DVD players, computers, and game consoles with DVD drives but do not play in conventional CD players. Digital music files are compatible with all MP3 devices.

Just what we need, another acronym to confuse potential consumers. We want DVD-A 5.1 audio; it's as simple as that.

No confirmation yet as to whether the 5.1 is hi resolution. The stereo is likely 16/48. According to some insiders, it's up to the artist to decide on hi res for DVD-Albums. We'll have to wait and see.
